Finance

We're thinking about starting to follow Crown Financial Ministries . Right now, we're just in the process of learning more about it, but it seems like a great plan for us. We love that they really encourage you to remember that your money is the Lords and has only been given to us so that we can be stewards of it. This really makes us want to be good stewards of our income. It kind of reminds me of when my dad and mom were watching me play soccer or race in track growing up. Knowing they were watching me, really made me want to play my absolute best because I wanted them to be proud of me. This is what I'm encouraged to do now with the way we manage our money. I want to make the Lord proud with what He has given us. Needless to say, I think following and learning more about this program can really give us the tools to do just that!

Anyone try this or know someone that has? What do you know or think about Crown? I would love to hear what others who use this program think. I've heard only good things about it from people so far.

  1. My husband and I have both been through the course and do a modified version of it. It's a great program!

We don't like to carry around cash all the time or do the envelope system, mainly because we like racking up miles for vacation:) So we use an excel program in which we track every receipt...and if we're over for a month then we start the next one in the negative...it's definitely helped me!

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks for the comment! I'm glad Crown has worked out for you both! Right now, we're tracking our money for the month (as suggested) and we're anxious to really get started!!

10 Minutes to a room you'll love

I'm wondering what my husband will think when he asks me "What did you do today?" and my answer won't involve shopping! Wait, I take that back, it DID involve shopping....shopping from my house (Nester Style)! The Nesting Place has been having a series on how to re-vamp rooms in your house in just 10 minutes. She encourages you to find things around your room and just add some changes here and there. I was inspired and decided to rise and shine early Saturday morning (with the help of some snow blowers outside) and apply these strategies to our ever so desperate bedroom.  I have really neglected decorating our bedroom until about 10 minutes ago so please don't judge the before pictures!  Keep in mind that I'm NOT finished yet and I may just end up going shopping OUTSIDE of the house for a few things. However, this 10 minute make-over has made our room just a bit more cozy!! Step 1 : Make the Bed  *Before* *After* Step 2: Personalize it.  Create a tables

We had the big 20 week ultrasound today and decided to invite the family over that evening for a gender reveal! Tom and I found out during the ultrasound and kept it a secret (which was super hard to do, even for a few hours!) until we had our family over. We found this really cute idea on how to "reveal" your babies gender from our friends here . We made cupcakes And inside of the cupcakes we filled it with colored frosting (pink for a girl, blue for a boy...not telling yet, wait for it....) Hans was so excited for everyone to get there (see? it was even hard for Hans to keep the secret!). He ran and got daddy's shoes and was putting them on by the door. Everyone chose a plate and a cupcake and we went into the living room to bite into it together... And...... IT'S A GIRL!!!!! Hans is already learning how to blame things on his little sister...tsk tsk. Hans, we totally saw you eat the cupcake, silly! We missed a lot of family members that really wanted to be the

I did it!

Last night, we whipped up this shirt for Hans from an old t-shirt of Tom's that was in a rag pile. We used this tutorial from the blog I mentioned a few days ago, MADE . Even though it was my first time making a clothing item (I made a little jewelry bag a few weeks ago to re-fresh my sewing skills) post high school home ec, I'm super happy with how it turned out. The tutorial is referred to the "90 minute shirt" but it took a little longer with that. =-) I'm completely inspired to make more cute things for my lil guy!!
