Maternity Leave

It's official. I'm on maternity leave now. I had my doctor's appt. with my orthopedic and have learned that my ankle is healing well but I will continue with crutches until the baby comes. If the baby comes before January 10th, I will still need to use crutches. If the baby comes January 10th or later, I will be able to ditch the crutches and try putting full weight on it! My hope is that I will actually be able to hold my baby and walk with my baby when he gets here. Continued prayers please!!

Nursery Update

So here we have some before shots of our nursery. Before this special room became the "nursery", it was...um, not really used. We called it the "office", but really it was a junk room with the doors permanently closed. With a little {a lot} bit of TLC, Tom was able to whip this room in shape. Here are the most current pictures of our little one's nursery. We're pretty much finished but we need our precious baby in the crib! Our nursery is a story book/scandinavian/nordic theme. The inspiration came from a old Hansel and Gretel painting that my mom and I found. The painting is currently in a green frame on the blue shelf above the rocking chair. My mom painted the painting above our changing table. The painting shows two bear cubs playing together in the woods. Tom made these tie backs for our curtains using antlers from deer that he has shot on past hunting trips... Antique toy blocks on the shelf... To create our special "nordic" nursery, we u

Life slows down...

This Sunday, I was given a reminder to slow down in life and be grateful in everything. While walking into church together, I slipped on the ice and fell down. Thankfully, belly was protected so baby is doing perfectly, but mommy broke her ankle!!! The title of this post says it all- after this fall, my life has slowed down! Even though it has only been about 24 hours since the fall and my ankle break, I've realized all of the things I am thankful for in this situation. First, I am so thankful that baby is okay and that nothing worse happened (breaking a hip, leg, etc). Second, I am so thankful for family and friends that have already called and offered companionship and meals, etc. I know that there are so many people praying for me and my ankle and I'm confident God is answering these prayers. I am also so thankful for Tom. He has kept me in such high spirits and is helping me with the littlest of things all day and night. Finally, I'm thankful for my God who is greater t

"Snow" Shower for our "Snow" Baby

This past Saturday my sisters threw me and our baby boy a shower. I couldn't have asked for a better time with better company. Everything was so perfect from the weather, decorations, people, etc. I left beaming from ear to ear and so excited to get everything home and set up for our little bundle coming this January. The theme of the shower was a "Snow Shower" for a "Snow baby boy". This picture is a little dark but it has pictures of Tom and I in the snow and an ultrasound picture of our little snow baby. My sisters that hosted the shower. I love you and had such a great time! Thank you for hosting such a special time! My mom also helped out a lot and her creative touches can be seen throughout the shower pictures. Thank you mom, I love you and hope that I turn out to be a wonderful mother like you have been to me! Party favors included a personalized vanilla scented candle, "let it snow, let it snow, let it snow" and personalized m&m's
