It's all about the shoes

It's amazing how much can be told in a pair of shoes.

After Tom proposed to me, he went to work a golf tournament in Boston. He came back with these shoes, for our baby some day. We kept them safely tucked away until that special time came.

Then one day, I found out that I was pregnant with our little baby! I dug out these little shoes and put them in a little gift bag on Tom's pillow. He came home to find this amazing surprise! We cried, laughed, prayed, and hugged. We were so thrilled that we were going to be parents! We had one and a half years of marriage and the pregnancy was a complete surprise but we were so ready and excited to welcome this little baby into our lives. 9 weeks later, we found out we lost that precious little baby. It was very traumatic, it was very sad, but we had to cling to the fact that this was all in God's perfect plan. For some reason, he wanted to take that little one home to Him early. We grieved and prayed and clung to the hope that God would give us a little one soon.

Nine months later, I looked for those little shoes again. We had put them away because they reminded me of loss. I was so excited to see them because, that day, they only signified hope for I had found out earlier that I was pregnant again! I put them on Tom's pillow again, along with a note I wrote to him with this verse:

I Samuel 1:27 I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.

We cried, laughed, prayed, and hugged! We couldn't wait to hold baby Hans 9 months later.

Now, 6 months after we had Hans, the little shoes FINALLY fit our little guy.

I like to think Hans is dreaming of playing golf with his daddy someday soon.

10 Minutes to a room you'll love

I'm wondering what my husband will think when he asks me "What did you do today?" and my answer won't involve shopping! Wait, I take that back, it DID involve shopping....shopping from my house (Nester Style)! The Nesting Place has been having a series on how to re-vamp rooms in your house in just 10 minutes. She encourages you to find things around your room and just add some changes here and there. I was inspired and decided to rise and shine early Saturday morning (with the help of some snow blowers outside) and apply these strategies to our ever so desperate bedroom.  I have really neglected decorating our bedroom until about 10 minutes ago so please don't judge the before pictures!  Keep in mind that I'm NOT finished yet and I may just end up going shopping OUTSIDE of the house for a few things. However, this 10 minute make-over has made our room just a bit more cozy!! Step 1 : Make the Bed  *Before* *After* Step 2: Personalize it.  Create a tables...

Dinner from the Garden

peppers, zucchini, and venison, oh my! what a delightful meal! tom had some venison left over from his hunting trips last fall and, of course, our garden treasures!!

Lately...

Hans is 4 months old today! I haven't yet taken his "official" 4 month photo's but I still wanted to share a couple of pictures I took this week. Hans loves to sit in his high chair now. He likes to play with some toys on there but mainly he just loves to gnaw on the table... Hans can now roll over from tummy to back and from back to tummy. He does it ALL of the time. Here he is after rolling onto his tummy. Such a cutie! I will be sure to post his 4 month pictures soon, along with his 4 month "update".
