Nursery Update

So here we have some before shots of our nursery. Before this special room became the "nursery", it was...um, not really used. We called it the "office", but really it was a junk room with the doors permanently closed.

With a little {a lot} bit of TLC, Tom was able to whip this room in shape.

Here are the most current pictures of our little one's nursery. We're pretty much finished but we need our precious baby in the crib! Our nursery is a story book/scandinavian/nordic theme. The inspiration came from a old Hansel and Gretel painting that my mom and I found. The painting is currently in a green frame on the blue shelf above the rocking chair.
My mom painted the painting above our changing table. The painting shows two bear cubs playing together in the woods.

Tom made these tie backs for our curtains using antlers from deer that he has shot on past hunting trips...

Antique toy blocks on the shelf...

To create our special "nordic" nursery, we used items from basically all over the place. Thankfully, we took our time creating this room, so we never had to spend a fortune on any one item. We used antiques and things from thrift stores. The blue shelves were found on craigslist for $15. The blue side table was actually picked up on the side of the road, for free. The red crib is from a cute baby boutique near our house but was on super clearance. And the changing table was something we purchased from Ikea (leksvik brand) for a reasonable price.

We're so happy with how everything turned out!

10 Minutes to a room you'll love

I'm wondering what my husband will think when he asks me "What did you do today?" and my answer won't involve shopping! Wait, I take that back, it DID involve shopping....shopping from my house (Nester Style)! The Nesting Place has been having a series on how to re-vamp rooms in your house in just 10 minutes. She encourages you to find things around your room and just add some changes here and there. I was inspired and decided to rise and shine early Saturday morning (with the help of some snow blowers outside) and apply these strategies to our ever so desperate bedroom.  I have really neglected decorating our bedroom until about 10 minutes ago so please don't judge the before pictures!  Keep in mind that I'm NOT finished yet and I may just end up going shopping OUTSIDE of the house for a few things. However, this 10 minute make-over has made our room just a bit more cozy!! Step 1 : Make the Bed  *Before* *After* Step 2: Personalize it.  Create a tables...

Lately...

Hans is 4 months old today! I haven't yet taken his "official" 4 month photo's but I still wanted to share a couple of pictures I took this week. Hans loves to sit in his high chair now. He likes to play with some toys on there but mainly he just loves to gnaw on the table... Hans can now roll over from tummy to back and from back to tummy. He does it ALL of the time. Here he is after rolling onto his tummy. Such a cutie! I will be sure to post his 4 month pictures soon, along with his 4 month "update".
